WINTER 2009
This new workshop series is designed to give students the chance to "sample" the different types of classes available at Sweetwater Center for the Arts. This is your chance to indulge your interest in the arts in a fun and relaxing environment. ALL levels of experience are welcome, so come try something new! There will be a one hour break for lunch during each workshop, so please bring a bagged lunch or take a break in the nearby Sewickley Village. Each workshop will have a list of materials that students will need to purchase; this list will be mailed to the student at the time of registration.

If you are among those who think that you can only draw stick figures, then this class is the class for you. Drawing is a learned skill, and this workshop will teach you basic techniques and exercises that will turn your scribbles into sketches. A materials list will be sent at the time of registration.

PASTEL PAINTING WORKSHOP

Ages 16 & up
Enjoy an all day painting experience using a medium that is pure pigment. Students can work from three different set-ups with instruction and critique given on an individual basis. Beginners as well as advanced students are welcome to attend. A materials list will be sent at the time of registration.

STILL LIFE SIMPLIFIED

In this more intensive workshop, students may work in either oil paints or acyrlics. Students will learn color application and theory and will explore limited as well as full palette painting. Students will paint a still life in either oils or acrylics, and may choose their palette type. A materials list will be sent at the time of registration.

WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP

Ages 16 & up
Watercolor paint has an inexplicable quality - the way it settles on the paper surface is a quality with which no other medium can compare. Learn to create more exciting painting through combining spontaneity and basic technical skills. Watercolor design foundations and techniques will be discussed during the class and each student will paint from their own design or a still life that will be provided. A materials list will be sent at the time of registration.
