SUMMER CAMPS
Sweetwater Center for the Arts offers weekly, half-day and full-day summer camps for ages 3-17 in the visual, performing, culinary and literary arts. Every week is a new adventure as children and teens explore various themes and art forms. Summer camps run from June 16-August 15, 2008.
On the first day of camp, please go to the upstairs lobby for camp check-in.
All campers must have a Permission Form/Medical Waiver on file before they can participate in camp activities. These forms will be mailed to camp participants prior to the camp start date.
If you register your child for one morning camp and one afternoon camp in the same week, you may sign up for the supervised lunch ($5/day; lunch is not included) at the time of registration. Camp participants (ages 4-15) who are not accompanied by an adult and wish to stay in the building between camps must sign up for the supervised lunch. Supervision is provided by a Sweetwater instructor or staff member.
Supervised lunch registration must be made at least two business days prior to the camp start date in order for arrangements to be made. Please contact the Education Director for questions regarding the supervised lunches.
Due to food allergies, Sweetwater does not provide snacks or lunch. Parents must provide snacks, drinks, or lunch for their children. Snacks and drinks can also be purchased in the office.

Musical Theater Workshop with Mario Melodia
TN13
Students entering grades 7 - 12 in the fall
Once again, Mr. Melodia brings his sense of style, expertise, talent and work ethic to Sweetwater in this fantastic summer camp experience that will introduce students to creative dramatics, scene study, dance and basic vocal techniques. In the past, campers have performed Broadway musicals such as “Bye Bye Birdy” and “Grease.” Students will rehearse and perform for family and friends, showcasing the skills they have acquired throughout the week.
- You may pick up a copy of the script on Friday, July 11, between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Scripts will not be available before this date.
- Please report to Sweetwater at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 12, for the read-through. Please wear comfortable clothing, soft, rubber-soled shoes and bring a tape recorder that you, the student, can operate. Please also bring these items with you to the camp on Monday. The read-through (not mandatory, but advisable) will last approximately three hours.
- Camp begins on Monday, July 14. Campers will meet from 12:30-4:00 p.m. each day through Friday, July 18. Students with solo performances may be required to arrive early or stay late to practice; Mr. Melodia will notify parents of any changes or additions to the schedule.
- Please bring your own snacks and drinks.
- This is a semi-professional musical theater camp. Although the actual camp meets from 12:30-4:00, students should expect to spend much more time here at Sweetwater for rehearsals. There is much to be accomplished in one week, so this camp is intensive; however, you will be amazed by the results!
- The location and time of the dress rehearsals are to be announced. The performance will take place at the Edgeworth Club. Time and date to be announced. If you participate in this camp, please leave the entire weekend open (Friday, July 18 - Sunday, July 20).
