THE ART OF CARICATURES
TN01
Ages 11 - 15

Ever wonder how the caricature artists at fairs make those quirky, unique and humorous portraits… and so quickly? In this class you’ll find out how! After establishing a foundation in the history and theory of caricature drawings, students will learn how to see, what to look for, what to exaggerate and how to construct a wide variety of caricature drawings. Portraits as well as full body caricatures will be discussed. By the end of class, students will be ready to set up shop and will never have to pay for a portrait again! Please bring a sketch pad with you to class.

Belly Dancing

Ages 13 & up

Celebrate your feminine side in this entertaining class that is a chance for those young and young at heart to let loose and have some fun! Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of belly dance through the history and steps from nine different styles. This high energy, low impact form of exercise tones the body from head to toe and helps improve posture and circulation. Dress in loose athletic pants or a long skirt with leggings and a comfortable shirt, and wear ballet style slippers or jazz shoes. No dance experience is necessary. A materials fee of $35 is payable to the instructor on the first night of class and covers the cost of a mandatory hip scarf.

DANCE MIX

Discover why dance is such a great workout! This fun, aerobic-inspired class will introduce students to a variety of different dance styles. Students will be taught a new style of dance each week, inspired by Jazz, Hip Hop, Latin, Modern and Hawaiian. Come learn new dances with a twist in a fun and relaxing environment. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.

EXPLORING ANIME ART
TN02
Ages 11 - 15

This class will focus on the popular style of anime and manga. Students will learn to draw the human figure in the style of Japanese animation and comics and will explore the animation process, storyboarding and character design. A brief introduction to Japanese culture and language through its use in anime will also be presented. Materials fee is included in the tuition.

LIVE ANIMAL ART

NEW PROJECTS! RETURNING STUDENTS WELCOME!

Sweewtater is partnering with the Animal Rescue League of Pennsylvania’s Wildlife Center in this exciting class for kids! Each week, a different animal will be brought to class, including: a red-tailed hawk, turtles, opossum, ducks, salamanders and geckos.* Students will learn about the habitats and characteristics of each of these creatures and will then reproduce each one in a different medium such as polymer clay, tooled metal, collage, graphite and watercolor pencil. Tammy Frech, Wildlife Educator at the Wildlife Center, will attend several classes as a guest instructor. Materials fee is included in the tuition. *This list of animals is based on their availability from the Animal Rescue League. If a particular animal listed is not available at the time of class, a different animal may be substituted. Materials fee is included in the tuition.

TEEN CERAMICS

Ages 11 - 14

Students will create a number of clay objects while learning wheel throwing and hand building skills. Explore glazing and color as well as surface treatment options. Students will make basic, cylindrical forms on the wheel as well as coil and slab built forms by hand. Dress to get messy and bring your imagination! Materials fee is included in the tuition.

ART SURVEY

Ages 15 - 18

This class will allow students to partake in a weekly art survey course to learn a wide range of art techniques including painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, and hand building with clay. This is the perfect opportunity to explore the wide world of art. Students of all skill levels are encouraged to attend. Materials fee is included in the tuition.

POTTERY STUDIO FOR TEENS
TN05
Ages 15 - 18

In this ceramics class, students will be challenged to develop their skills in wheel throwing and sculpture. If you have had prior experience in clay, you can learn new skills and advance your creative abilities. If you are a beginner, be ready to jump right in to making hand-built sculptures and learn the basics of wheel throwing. Come with ideas of what you’d like to make and prepare to develop many new skills. Materials fee is included in the tuition.
