Internships
Summer 2012 Internship Opportunities:
Arts Education Intern (application deadline: March 30, 2012)
Sweetwater Center for the Arts seeks enthusiastic and responsible college students to assist with our summer art camps as classroom aides.
Summer camps at Sweetwater are weekly, half-day camps running from either 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. or 1:00-4:00 p.m. beginning in mid-June and ending in mid-August. Interns are expected to work approximately four to six camps (schedule is flexible).
Sweetwater provides interns with an exciting and rewarding atmosphere, where they will gain valuable experience working in a classroom environment. This is an excellent opportunity for interns to establish references and build their resumes. This internship is ideal for college students majoring in art education and/or elementary education.
Duties include assisting instructors with children's summer camps and assisting staff in numerous areas. Special projects will be given based on the intern's strengths, as well as the needs of Sweetwater. Interns may assist in clerical work, educational activities and special events.
Applicants must possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher, enjoy working with children, possess basic computer skills, be eager to learn, and have a strong work ethic.
This internship is unpaid, but offers great experience in the areas of arts and education. As compensation, interns will receive one free class at Sweetwater of their own choosing (private art and music lessons excluded).
To be considered for the position, please send a resume and cover letter to: Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Attn: Jessica Revtai, Volunteer Coordinator, 200 Broad Street, Sewickley, PA 15143, or email to jrevtai@sweetwaterartcenter.org.
