COMICS/GRAPHIC NOVEL INSTRUCTOR

Sweetwater Center for the Arts, a non-profit art center located in Sewickley, PA seeks an experienced teaching artist who specializes in comics and/or graphic novels to teach two or more workshops scheduled during our fall session, with a potential for opportunities beyond the fall. Preference will be given to artists who use their comic medium as a voice for social issues. A demonstrated understanding of contemporary trends in art education, and previous teaching experience is required. Applicants must have Act 34/114/151 clearances.

CERAMICS INSTRUCTOR/TECHNICIAN  (PART-TIME)

Sweetwater Center for the Arts, a non-profit art center located in Sewickley, PA seeks a part-time ceramics instructor/technician during the fall session. The qualified individual will help set-up and maintain a new ceramics facility at the Class Academy school in Baden, PA, as well as teach 2 classes per week in basic and intermediate ceramics techniques. Applicants should be familiar with contemporary trends in art education, and previous teaching experience is required. Applicants must have Act 34/114/151 clearances.

BUSINESS ASSISTANT  (PART-TIME)

Sweetwater Center for the Arts, a non-profit art center located in Sewickley, PA, is now hiring a part-time Business Assistant. 

Primary responsibilities include:

The Business Assistant is responsible for entering data into QuickBooks and Sweetwater's class registration program, as well as creating weekly reports of organization's income, preparing weekly and monthly spreadsheets in Excel, filing, and completing tasks as delegated by the Business Manager.

The Business Assistant must also maintain a presence at the front desk, provide excellent customer service, field telephone calls, receive and direct customers with a positive attitude, assist instructors, and set up for classes.

 Qualifications: 

  • Must be responsible, organized and possess strong interpersonal skills;
  • Must possess basic computer knowledge (MS Office to include MS Word, Excel and email);
  • Must have a working knowledge of QuickBooks;
  • Must have knowledge of operating standard office equipment;
  • Must have valid Pennsylvania driver's license with reliable transportation
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift objects of up to 40 lbs.

Education: High school diploma or GED is required. Degree and/or experience (6 months) in administrative/accounting support is preferred.

Schedule: Schedule includes but is not limited to:

  • Monday-Thursday: 4:30 pm - 10:00 pm
  • Alternating Friday and Saturday shifts. Friday, 4:30-9:00 pm OR Saturday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm (Occasionally until 11:00 pm on Fridays when there is an event)
  • Occasional Sunday Shifts

NOTE:  Evening and weekend office hours are pending class schedule.
