SPRING 2017 ADULT DRAWING CLASSES



Life Drawing DR01 Ages 18+

Learn to draw the figure beginning with studies of the skeleton and continuing with rapid gesture drawings, contour studies, tonal exercises and more detailed drawings using charcoal, conte crayon, marker and oil throughout the course. Timed exercises with the help of Joyce's critique during class will assist the student in improving their skills regarding foreshortening, proportions, body alignment and expression in body movement. Gain confidence in learning how to draw with our eyes, tapping into the unconscious artist within. This class features a nude model. Drawing Fundamentals DR02 Ages 18+
Students are encouraged to bring a photo of their pet to work on during class. Learn to develop your power of observation and drawing skills through a series of lessons that focus on light, line, shape, value, and spatial relationships. Subject matter will include still life, nature, and animals, including pets. Whether you are drawing for the first time or simply interested in a refresher course, this class is for you. Drawing is a fundamental foundation for all other studio disciplines including painting, sculpture, printmaking or mixed media. Learning to see in terms of lines, shapes and values is essential to translating the three-dimensional world to any two-dimensional surface. Contemporary Approaches to Drawing DR03 Ages 18+
In this course, students will explore drawing beyond the pencil. Learn how far concepts and techniques of contemporary drawing have come, all the while sharpening the fundamental and classic drawing skills that allow for such experimentation. Each class will incorporate numerous warm-up activities and technique explorations. Beginning with basic line drawing and shading and progressing towards broader interpretations of drawing, such as transfer methods, ink drawing, and more, this course will culminate in a project that incorporates all of the types of drawing that will be introduced.
