Color Theory Workshop

Sewickley, PA ... Color Theory is a one day workshop for adults  ages 16 & up and will  be held at Sweetwater Center for the Arts on Saturday, April 16, 2011, 9:00 a.m.  - 4:00 p.m. In this work shop you will learn color mixing with oils/acrylics referencing the color wheel and will study neutral greys achieved with gradations in numerous complementary color bands. The workshop continues with a group discussion on images for painting that each student is encouraged to bring to the workshop and how they may be approached for desired maximum effect in relation to composition, color, contrast, temperature and atmosphere. There will be a break for lunch, so bring a bagged lunch or take a break in town. Some materials provided; a materials list will be sent at the time of registration. This class is $100 for Sweetwater members and $115 for non-members. Sweetwater Center for the Arts makes its home in the Sewickley Valley Cultural Center (formerly the Old Post Office Building) in a central location in the town of Sewickley.  A non-profit organization established in 1975 with the mission of promoting creative arts and cultural experiences to the Sewickley Valley and surrounding regions, Sweetwater offers quality arts education for ages 3 to adult in a variety of areas including drawing and painting, photography, ceramics and sculpture, traditional crafts, culinary arts, mind and body, lectures and literary arts and music instruction.  Through grant funding, the Center often takes its programming to underserved regions, and scholarships are available for those demonstrating financial need.
