The following classes are designed for students at any level of ceramics. Basic techniques will be discussed and demonstrated, and for those who already have experience working with clay, more advanced techniques in hand building, wheel throwing, surface effects and glaze treatments will be shared. Materials fee is included in the tuition.

SELF-POTRAITS IN CLAY
CS04, Ages 16 & up

Using photos, students will create either a self-portrait or a portrait of another individual.  The first class will be spent blocking in the sculpture on an armature and taking digital pictures of those students interested in doing the self-portrait.  All other students should bring photos for their portraits – they should include front, side and three quarter views of the individual, all taken at the ear level of the sitter.  Beginners as well as more advanced students are welcome.  The material fee is included in the tuition.

TILE MAKINGS & MOSAICS
CS05, Ages 16 & up

Learn the basics of both tile making and mosaics in this fun new class that will stimulate your creativity.  Students will learn about the process of tile making, as well as the many diverse uses for tiles.  All levels of students are welcome.  If you are a more advanced student and have a current project that you are working on, feel free to bring it in to class!  Materials fee is included in the tuition; however, students are encouraged to bring found objects, glass, recycled tiles or anything else that he or she might want to incorporate in a tile design.

PORCELAIN
CS06, Ages 16 & up

Porcelain clay has been admired for its delicate beauty and smoothness.  In this class, students will learn about the characteristics of porcelain and will explore its endless possibilities.  Porcelain is an excellent medium for creating small and medium-sized tableware, tile, sculpture and jewelry.  Wheel throwing and hand building techniques, surface effects and glaze treatments will be discussed and demonstrated.  Previous ceramic experience is desirable but not required.  Materials fee is included in the tuition.
